But, a certain pattern did start emerging with these modified rifles, and a new variant of M16 was born: the Menusar. In Hebrew, this literally means “sawn”, which is an apt description of the rifle.

Oct 11, 2023 · It's an M16A1 rifle, barrel cut just aft of the gas port. Then a new gas port drilled at carbine length, FSB pinned, and carbine buttstock assembly. So it's essentially a 13" barreled carbine with an A1 barrel profile, and a 1/12 twist. I'm assuming M193 is the issued ammo.

IDF's "M16" (Sawed-Barrel Flattop Colt M.653) with M203
Feb 24, 2019 · This rifle is dubbed "M16" in the IDF, but it is actually an Israeli modified version of the Carbine AR15 variant "Model 653", shipped to Israel from the US in the 70s. The IDF took the rifle and sawed its barrel and shortened it by two inches.

The original M16 was a select-fire 5.56x45mm caliber rifle with a 20 round magazine. Introduced in 1963 into the US military it was immidiatly used in operations during the Vietnam war. In 1969 the M16A1 replaced the M14 rifle to become the standard issued US military’s service rifle.
