A man who was hit in the groin with a brick during the Southport riots was arrested after police recognised him from the unfortunate viral video.

Brian Spencer, 40, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

Spencer, of Lytham Road, Southport, was jailed for two years and six months after admitting violent disorder in Liverpool Crown Court.
