A vegetation fire that started near Vacaville east of Interstate 80 on Friday has burned hundreds of acres so far, according to officials.

A fast-growing and wind-whipped fire near Vacaville in Solano County scorched more than 800 acres Friday afternoon.  The Hay Fire, sparked just after 1 p.m. on Hay Road east of Vacaville, had burned 30 acres by 1:06 p.

According to the Vacaville Fire District, it started just before 1 p.m. along the 6200 block of Hay Road, just east of the city.
