Despite being called “fake news” by author Bret Easton Ellis, a recent report suggests that Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming American Psycho movie is in the works, but not official just yet. According to a new report from Jeff Sneider in his The InSneider newsletter,

"I heard somewhere, from someone, that there are no contracts," Bret Easton Ellis, author of the American Psycho novel, revealed.

Author Bret Easton Ellis says the announced "American Psycho" reimagining isn't real. Ellis said during his eponymous podcast that announced remake's director Luca Guadagnino and rumored lead actor Austin Butler are not contracted for the feature.

Bret Easton Ellis first had his 1991 novel adapted for film in 2000, directed by Mary Harron and starring Christian Bale as investment banker-turned-serial killer Patrick Bateman. Now, he's said rumblings of a new film from Guadagnino are "fake news" via his self-titled Bret Easton Ellis Podcast.
