Calgary Flames General Manager Craig Conroy has put an end to speculation surrounding $27.3 million defenseman Rasmus Andersson. Conrey confirmed the team has no intention of trading the blueliner even though the franchise has been getting calls asking about his availability.

Since Craig Conroy became general manager, the Calgary Flames have undergone some major changes as they’ve moved out seemingly every expiring asset on their roster in an effort to get younger.

The Flames have “no interest” in trading star defenseman Rasmus Andersson ahead of the March 7 deadline as things stand, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports Wednesday. LeBrun adds that they’re also “among the very long list of teams that have checked in” with the Sabres about trading for center Dylan Cozens.

The idea that Conroy would send Andersson to Edmonton at the deadline has some problems. The two organizations have a bitter rivalry going back decades, with Calgary’s sole Stanley Cup built (by Cliff Fletcher and Bob Johnson) for the single purpose of beating the Oilers.
