DJI have responded to the "misunderstanding" but could a bureaucrat – not a new law – be the end of DJI drones in the USA?

DJI has announced a new October launch event – and recent leaks point to it being a promising new, mid-range Air 3S.

We've seen a lot of rumors – now we're seeing a picture that appears to show two windows onto the world and a very big sensor. Just maybe this is an Air 3S?

DJI fitted the Air 3S with broad suite of sensors to enable nightscape obstacle sensing, including front-facing LiDAR, downward infrared time-of-flight sensors, and a total of six vision sensors; two each on the front, rear, and bottom.

The key upgrades delivered by the Air 3S are its dual-camera array, which now includes a primary 24mm camera that utilizes a larger 1-inch sensor, alongside the secondary camera – a 3x telephoto zoom (70mm approx) for the times you need to get a tighter perspective of your subjects.

The release of the Air 3S has been hotly tipped for a while, but today – with the formal announcement – the details have been fully revealed including DJI's surprise statement (since this is the 'prosumer' model) that it has a better image than the flagship Mavic 3 Pro.

DJI has just launched another quadcopter. The Air 3S features 42GB of onboard storage and powerful obstacle avoidance capabilities, and starts at $1,099.

The Air 3S is the latest flagship model in DJI ’s mid-range Air series of consumer camera drones, supplanting the July 2023-launched DJI Air 3. Like the Air 3, the Air 3S’s main draw is its two-camera setup: instead of a single camera for aerial photos and video,
