The Russian Defence Ministry said a total of 110 drones were destroyed in the overnight barrage across seven Russian regions. Many of the drones targeted Kursk, where 43 drones were reportedly shot down – a region inside Russia where Ukraine launched a surprise attack in August.

Since October began, Moscow has lost more than 24,000 troops, according to figures sourced by Ukraine's Armed Forces.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 59 of the 116 Shahed-type attack drones launched by Russia overnight, the Air Force said. Forty-five drones were reportedly "lost" on Ukrainian territory, and 10 more are still present in the Ukrainain airspace at the time of the publication.

For the second consecutive night, Russia launched waves of drone attacks on Kyiv, damaging residential buildings and injuring at least one civilian, Ukrainian officials reported early Monday, October 21.
