Nearly 650 fourth-year students across Louisiana opened envelopes that told them where they will take their next steps in medical training — 34% were matched with programs in Louisiana.

Most jobs don't require 20 years of school. That's why not all of us are doctors. But all of that education paid off for med students across the country for Match Day on Friday.

March 21, marked as National Match Day, is a pivotal day for medical students. It is on this day that final-year medical students across the United States receive emails confirming whether they have been accepted into a medical residency program or not.
