Intel, the Bay Area chipmaker, is cutting 319 jobs in Northern California as part of its massive 15,000-worker slash. The company is struggling.

Silicon Valley's Intel announced it will begin a new round of layoffs from its Folsom campus in November. Folsom, which is just east of Sacramento, is one of the fastest-growing California cities, and tech jobs are a big reason for it.

Intel plans to lay off 385 workers at its sites in Arizona and another 319 in its California offices, in addition to the 1,300 Oregon layoffs the chipmaker announced Tuesday.
