March 21 The USDA released its weekly Egg Markets Overview report, which found wholesale egg prices continued to drop—though at a slower pace than the week before—falling to $3.27 per dozen, and it said consumers are “slowly beginning” to see prices drop and availability increase in stores.

That was Scott Gottlieb, the former head of the Food and Drug Administration, discussing the avian-flu crisis in the U.S. in a recent op-ed in STAT, a publication that specializes in health and medicine.

Egg prices remain high as Easter and Passover near, but U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins remains hopeful about curbing prices.
