The Badgers are now 16-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Badgers dropped a tough game at UCLA to start off the week but came back home and had a dominant showing against Nebraska, defeating the visiting Huskers 83-55 behind 27 points from John Tonje and 17-made three pointers from the team, their second-highest total this season.
Wisconsin held Nebraska to its lowest point total (55) since a Dec. 7 loss to Michigan State (52). That performance raised the Badgers’ KenPom defensive efficiency ranking to No. 50 nationally, the highest it’s been all season. That pushed the team’s overall ranking to No. 14.
Wisconsin (4-6, 0-2 Big Ten) had won the last two bouts entering the 184-pound match, trimming Maryland’s lead to 14-13 with three matches left. Lucky for the Terps, they had one of the nation’s best at the weight making the walk to the mat in No. 13 Jaxon Smith.
