A 29-year-old Chambers County man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after being accused of violently shaking his 4-month-old daughter, causing significant head trauma. According to a complaint filed by investigators with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office,

We lost one of our brothers, leaders, mentor, and family to a senseless tragedy,” Cauthen's colleagues wrote in a Facebook post.

A resident in the area opened fire on Battalion Chief Bart Cauthen and the driver as they walked up his driveway for help.

At the end of the Chambers County Commission meeting, County Engineer Josh Harvill gave an overview about the recent winter weather and the impact on the county’s many roads. According to Harvill, the county has over 430 paved roads and over 300 dirt roads.
