The California Highway Patrol arrested a Sacramento man accused of driving intoxicated Tuesday and causing a multi-vehicle crash in Northern California that killed a woman and left a 10-year-old girl severely injured. The driver now faces a second-degree murder charge, CHP officials said.

A Sacramento man is accused of killing one person and injuring multiple others including a 10-year-old girl after a five-vehicle crash, officials said. He is believed to have been driving under the influence.

CHP says 49-year-old William R. Dougherty was under the influence of drugs when he caused a deadly chain reaction accident.
