Massachusetts’ statewide payroll climbed again in 2024, with many of the top earners hailing from the same department.

The Massachusetts state payroll climbed to $10.26 billion in 2024, a yearly increase of nearly 10 percent, with University of Massachusetts officials again leading the list of the highest-paid employees, according to data from the state comptroller’s office.

Other passengers physically restrained a passenger accused of opening an airplane door before take-off until police arrived.

A passenger on a JetBlue flight opened an emergency exit door and deployed the slide while the plane was taxiing at Logan Airport Tuesday night, the FAA said.

A JetBlue spokesperson said a person attempted to open the door while the plane was taxiing in Boston and the emergency slide deployed.
