For the first time in seven years, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Florida. Here's what that means for Jacksonville.

MIAMI - A major winter storm is moving into northern Florida on Tuesday, bringing what will potentially be record-breaking snowfall totals in spots, the threat of accumulating ice and locally treacherous travel conditions.

North Florida is under a winter storm warning, with cold rain and possible freezing rain in Central Florida. Snow is likely in the western Panhandle, creating hazardous travel conditions on I-10 and I-75.

The First Alert Weather Team says heavy snow has impacted much of the Deep South through Tuesday from New Orleans to Pensacola.

Georgia school districts are already canceling and delaying class for Thursday due to the lingering inclement weather from Tuesday's winter storm.

Between school closures and power outages, the effects of the winter storms of the past several days have shown it’s effect throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

The winter storm brought up to about 2 inches of snow over parts of north Georgia and areas south of Interstate 20.
