Regulators in Taiwan blocked Uber's $950 million purchase of online food delivery and ordering platform Foodpanda.

Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission has rejected a proposed US$900 million deal for Uber Eats to acquire the Taiwan business of its main rival in the market, Foodpanda. The merger would have given Uber Eats control of up to 90% of the food delivery market in Taiwan and was opposed by delivery drivers.

Taiwan has blocked Uber Technologies’ planned takeover on anticompetition concerns, thwarting the U.S. company’s efforts to expand in Asia.
