Gibson has been a part of the Tigers’ broadcast team for the last 10 years, rejoining in 2015 after managing the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2010 through 2014. Gibson also served as a broadcast analyst for Fox Sports Detroit from 1998 through 2002 before joining the team as an assistant coach under manager Alan Trammell from 2003 to 2006.

Kirk Gibson and the Tigers made the joint announcement Monday. He will remain an adviser to the Tigers' front office.

Tigers legend Kirk Gibson will not be returning to the broadcast booth this season, but he will remain a part of the team’s front office as a special assistant while working with his foundation to continue the fight against Parkinson’s disease.
