A positive case of H5 avian influenza was detected at a commercial broiler farm in Dorchester County, the Maryland Department of Agriculture said Monday.

Caroline County farmer is dealing with bird flu cases among its flock. This is the third known case of bird flu in Maryland The farm is near a previous farm where its flock tested positive.

The widening U.S. bird flu outbreak has made its way to Maryland, which has counted two cases on commercial poultry farms — one in Caroline County and another in Queen Anne’s County — since the start of the year.
