California's wildfire season is far from over and Shasta County's Shoe Fire stands out for the efforts to bring it under control. Here's what to know.

The Shoe Fire, burning northeast of Lake Shasta, continued to spread Wednesday night. By late afternoon it had reached 300 acres, with no containment. Shasta County sheriff's officials have ordered evacuations in the area of the fire, which is burning off Fender's Ferry road northeast of the lake.

The Watch Duty app reported at 1:30 pm today, October 15, that the Shoe Fire is now at 3,760 acres and still holding at 7% containment. According to the United States Forest Service, as of this morning the fire was pushing to the southeast.

There is a slight chance of rain Tuesday night, but the weather service has issued a fire weather watch that will take effect later this week.

The Shoe Fire burning northeast of Shasta Lake in northern California has grown to 400 acres. The vegetation fire is burning on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Sulanharas Creek near the Madrone Campground.

The Forest Service said no injuries have been reported and one structure is threatened. The public is advised to stay out of the area of as this is an active
