The Toronto Maple Leafs called up Fraser Minten from the Toronto Marlies on Thursday morning. Following an injury to John Tavares at practice on Wednesday, it made sense for the club to call up their prospect center who has played in the third-line center spot previously.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a lower-body injury, the team announced on Thursday. Tavares was subsequently listed as week-to-week.

With Tavares out for at least four games, a Maple Leafs team that was already light on centre depth will now see its options tested.
