Federal authorities want former state Sen. Justin Eichorn to remain in custody ahead of his trial for allegedly seeking sex with a 17-year-old girl, claiming the ex-Minnesota lawmaker lied about having access to a gun and arranged to cover up evidence that could be used against him in court.

Republican Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids resigned from the Minnesota Senate last week after being charged with attempted coercion or enticement of a minor.

Prosecutors are asking a judge to keep former Minnesota senator Justin Eichorn in jail, alleging he tried to keep them from accessing a computer and cell phone in his St. Paul apartment. They also alleged he lied about having a gun in the apartment.
