An Arctic fox was discovered roaming the streets of Portland, Oregon, and left the community baffled as to how it could have gotten there. Originally, an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman suggested to OPB.

Beth Quillian, the West Region public information officer for the ODFW, spoke to Newsweek about the strange sighting. "The animal spotted in Portland last week does look like some kind of fox. White morphs are more common in red foxes than gray foxes, but the ears and snout are atypical for a red fox," Quillian said.

The 6.5-pound fox, which was found in Willamette Park, is being treated for dehydration and malnourishment at BAO’s Wildlife Care Center, but is otherwise in good health.
